The format most clubs start with. Everyone plays five matches, it is over by late afternoon, and nobody goes home after twenty minutes of football.
A single day is less forgiving than it looks. Twenty fixtures have to fit between the first kick-off and the last whistle, every side needs an hour between its own matches, and nobody can play more than three times. Four pitches makes it work; three does not.

20 fixtures in all. A side gets at least 60 minutes between its own matches, plays at most three a day, and no pitch hosts two games at once. These are constraints, not preferences — the scheduler will not quietly squeeze a fixture out to make the numbers work.
All 20 fixtures fit on 4 pitches over 1 day, at 68% pitch utilisation. There is not much slack: drop to 3 pitches and 8 fixtures have nowhere to go.
Most tools skip this step: they hand you a fixture list and leave you to count whether it fits in the days you have booked. Finding out it does not belongs before the invitations go out, not on the morning.

A club festival at this size is often run without an entry fee, funded from subs or a sponsor. The figures above are still what it costs — worth knowing before someone offers to “just cover the pitches”.
